About

Profit per Acre is a web app used for calculating breakevens and your profit per acre. (It's there in the name, after all). It is primarily a planning and projection tool, rather then a record-keeping tool. It can be thought of as an alternative to some clunky spaghetti spreadsheet that even the original author barely understands how it works.

Profit per Acre is developed and made by Jeff. He lives and works on a family farm. PPA is an example of building a tool to fix your own problems. It's not written by some programmer far removed from farming. The dev has first-hand experience with farming, and uses this web app himself frequently.

Profit per Acre is only developed for the web. Since there is only a single developer working on it, this is the most efficient use of time and effort.

You wanted to know about the tech stack? Well, why didn't you say so sooner? The api is written in Golang. The user interface is written in Typescript using the Vue framework. Go is nice. The single-binary deploy is so, so sweet compared to the multiple moving parts that some other languages require. Vue is good, and Typescript is awesome.

Profit per Acre is a web app that is used for calculating the projected profit on the acres that you farm. Instead of dealing with an ad hoc spreadsheet, or a hard-to-update piece of paper, why not go with the easy-to-use option of a web-based calculator?

Profit per Acre makes it easy to calculate the return on investment of different chemical programs or fertilizer products. As prices change, quickly see how your bottom line is affected and market your grain with confidence.
